Is your soap vegan?

No. Our soaps are not vegan. We intentionally use traditional ingredients such as tallow and beeswax in several of our products because they offer exceptional performance, skin comfort, and longevity. We believe in being transparent about our formulations so customers can make informed choices.

Why do you use tallow in your soap?

Tallow has been used in soapmaking for generations and is valued for creating a hard, long-lasting bar with a creamy, gentle lather. We choose tallow over palm oil because it produces a superior bar and helps us avoid supporting environmentally harmful palm oil practices.

Are your soaps suitable for daily use?

Yes. our soaps are formulated to be gentle enough for daily use on hands and body, making them well suited for a wide range of skin types. 

Clean Scents Candles FAQ

What are your candles made from?

Our candles are crafted with a blend of soy wax and beeswax. Soy and beeswax are renewable, clean-burning waxes that allow us to create a smooth, long-lasting candle with excellent performance.

What fragrance oils do you use?

We use Candlescience Clean Scents® fragrance oils from CandleScience.

These oils are:

• Free from California Prop 65 listed carcinogens

• Free from reproductive toxins

•Free from acute toxins

• Phthalate-free

• Transparently formulated

They are specifically designed for safe use in candles and are rigorously tested for clean performance.

Why don't you use 100% pure essential oils?

This is a great question - and one we care deeply about.

While essential oils are natural, they are not always ideal or safe for burning in candles. Many essential oils:

• Have low flash points (making them unstable in flame)

• Can produce heavy soot when burned

• Do not throw scent in wax

• Can become irritating or altered when exposed to high heat

Burning an essential oil and applying it topically are very different experiences.

We choose professionally formulated fragrance oils that are designed to burn cleanly and safely- because performance and air quality matter.

Are your candles all natural?

No - and we believe honesty matters.

Our waxes are natural (soy and beeswax). However, our fragrance oils contain a blend of naturally derived and safe synthetic aroma compounds. 

Why? Because some synthetic compounds are:

• More stable when heated

• Safer for combustion

• Able to eliminate harmful naturally occurring constituents

"Natural" does not automatically mean safer- especially when something is burned.
